An Independent School & Nursery for Children Aged 0-9 in Central Bedfordshire
Welcome to Orchard School and Nursery
The ethos of Orchard is based on the belief that the best possible start a child has, right from their earliest days, shapes their future in multiple different ways.
For over 30 years, we have had a passion for building successful futures and helping to develop each one of those in our care into amazing children. We take as much pleasure from hearing the wonderful achievements our alumni have made across academics, sport and the arts as we do about the fantastic accomplishments made by our children in school on a daily basis.

Nursery
At Orchard, our nursery is where every child’s journey begins. From our youngest babies to our confident pre-schoolers, children are welcomed into a warm and nurturing environment where they are known, valued and inspired each day. Through play, exploration and gentle guidance, we build secure relationships that support every child’s wellbeing and curiosity. The strong partnership between home and school starts here — helping children grow in confidence, independence and happiness.

school
Our school provides a calm, inspiring environment where children learn with curiosity and confidence. We encourage every child to ask questions, think for themselves and take pride in their effort and progress. Learning at Orchard is purposeful and joyful — rooted in care, challenge and creativity. We help each child to grow with resilience and a love of learning that will stay with them for life.
Orchard School – Our Aims
Nurture
Being kind to ourselves and others
We help each other, look after our school, and make sure everyone feels safe and happy.
Curiosity
Asking questions, exploring and enjoying learning
We try new things, wonder about the world, and learn through play, adventure and discovery.

Being brave and keeping going, even when things are tricky
We don’t give up, we learn from mistakes, and we celebrate trying hard and learning along the way.

A welcome from Our Headteacher
Welcome to Orchard School and Nursery - a place where every child is known, valued and inspired.
For over thirty years, Orchard has been a family-led school built on warmth, curiosity and care. Founded by my mother, Anne Burton, our vision has always been simple: to nurture confident, curious and resilient learners in a happy, secure environment.
It’s now my privilege to lead Orchard into its next chapter - honouring our traditions while embracing new ideas that help children thrive. I warmly invite you to visit and experience the energy, joy and sense of belonging that make Orchard so special.
